We’d like to introduce the new Native Plant Center website. There are new features and new looks that make the site more user-friendly and useful. And the best part, there’s lots more new stuff to come!
We’ve Redesigned and Rethought.
The site has a new skin. Intuitive layout means less time trying to figure out how to get what you want.
You can still filter searches by sun, color, etc, but now you can just type in what you’re looking for.
Now you can give input to us and other site visitors. We’ve added comments, star ratings, and data suggestions.
New Design
We worked with DC-based digital marketing agency DD Minds to redesign the website and rework the user-interface. DD Minds designed a beautiful new skin for the site with colorful icons, intuitive search and filtering, and pleasing and interesting animation elements. The design is simple, attractive and clean.
New Features
But it’s not just a new face for the website, we’ve done some behind-the-scenes work as well. The plant search is smarter, allowing you to search by common name, scientific name, or other attributes, like flower color or habitat. Just like before, though, you can filter your results by plant type, soil moisture, region and more.
We’ve also added some social and crowd-sourcing aspects to the site. Commenting and 1 – 5 star rating on plant pages will allow visitors to share their experiences and knowledge about specific plants. Upload your own photos and videos to your comments and start talking about propagation, landscaping, deer resistance- endless possibilities abound!
